Too hot to walk outside? Too cold? Maybe you simply don’t feel safe out walking alone. Or, as at the time of the writing this post, you are locked down at home due to a global virus.

Whatever the case, how about hopping on the treadmill (or step and dance in place) and binge-watching a new series?

While training for a Fitbit challenge a few years back, I did just that.  It is amazing how quickly those steps add up when you are focusing on a show.  Here’s the catch though – make a deal with yourself to not watch any of the episodes/movies unless you are walking. Creating a Routine – Today’s Movement Tip

This post may contain affiliate links and we may earn compensation when you click on the links at no additional cost to you.

We all have daily routines.  Some may be similar to what others do, while others may be unique to us.

Let’s think of a few that most of us do automatically.  Using the bathroom upon waking.  Seems silly to mention it, but it is a routine thing we do, none-the-less.

Brushing our teeth every day is another one. What would happen if we did not brush?  Your dentist/hygienist might have strong feelings about that.

Those of us that must get up at a specific time in the morning usually set an alarm clock.  Why? We would not keep to our schedule, and the day would start with a chaotic rush to get out the door if we did not set that alarm. Continue reading “Creating a Routine – Today’s Movement Tip”

Keep Avocados on Hand by Freezing Them

Want a super simple way to have avocado anytime you want them?

I tend to purchase avocados in bulk, but unfortunately, they all tend to ripen at the same time. While I do love them, I can’t seem to eat them fast enough.

So, what do I do now?  I still buy them in bulk, when possible, and then wait until the avocado starts to soften but are not mushy when pushed in on.  Then I peel and slice them. Sometimes I dip them in lemon juice, sometimes not. Then, I place them single layered in a zip lock freezer bag, and label the bag with the date. Starting Seeds Indoors – How I do it by Modifying a Simple Basement Storage Shelf

"Seed Starting 01 | www.stephsneckofthewoods.com"Starting seeds indoors is a great way to get a head start on gardening for the spring (or anytime, for that matter).  And it is the way I choose to start my garden each spring.

We do have cats in the home though, and I needed to find a safe way to do this.

We have no windowsills with sun exposure sufficient enough for sprouting, and to leave them out on a counter would (1) not provide enough light for them grow, and (2) not last long enough to reach a size to be transplanted into the outdoor garden. My cats would surely see to that!

So, what to do?  I have an unfinished basement that is mostly used for storage.  My son and I built several simple storage shelves to hold totes several years ago. Continue reading “Starting Seeds Indoors – How I do it by Modifying a Simple Basement Storage Shelf”
