Last year, I started a shadow box project. Unfortunately they were not all completed, as I had hoped. But, the project continues. I recently received a tiny bunny to add to the Ostara box.

Let’s Get Moving – “Tip for Today”
Electronic hand held devices – most of us have at least one. They make our lives easier. Or at least that is what “they” tell us. However you feel about them, if you own one (or five) put them to use in a healthy way. There are some wonderful apps out there to track EVERYTHING including food you take in, and what comes out. No, really! Go look and you’ll see there are many to choose from that track just that.
We all know that daily movement is important for our overall health. But knowing it and actually doing it, are two entirely different things. So how do we get our bodies moving, when we have so many conveniences aimed at making sure we don’t have to move … sorry, making our lives easier?
Long days at work, long commutes, drive thru food available 24 hours a day. We don’t even have to get up and walk to get that food that we probably should not be eating anyway.
Trying to get that recommended 10,000 steps a day? Did you know that this concept was originally started in Japan, as a way to sell pedometers? I didn’t.
Doesn’t matter how it got started, we now know that to maintain our health and proper weight, regular movement is essential. And 10,000 is a good benchmark to aim for.
Let’s Get Moving … “Tip for Today”
Those of us who live where it snows, have opportunities for movement during the winter. Yes, I am talking about shoveling snow. I found out yesterday, that although it did provide an opportunity for lots of movement and a good arm workout, I did not register many steps. When all was said and done, I came inside and found only 3,000ish registered on my Fitbit. REALLY?!
Oh well. The snow was beautiful!
Let us talk for a moment about our bodies. How do you feel about your body? Are you happy with it, overall? Do you nit-pick all of your imperfections? Are you frustrated with it? Maybe it does not look the way you want it to. Or maybe it is not aging the way you had hoped. How about mobility? Are you stiff, sore, and achy? Do you feel your body has been good to you? Have you been good to your body?
There are as many views about bodies and what they “should be”, as there are body differences. Of course if we pay attention to the media, it’s about our size, what we are wearing, or how “beautiful” we are … on the outside; what we should buy to make us fabulous, etc. Overall, we need to find peace with ourselves and accept our bodies, imperfections and all. No matter how we look on the outside, it is the function on the inside that dictates whether we will have a long and active life.
It is always fun to have a way to show off your accomplishments. That is what the Fitbit badge program has done for me. I found it really fun to push my limits and try to achieve the next badge level. The picture shows the badges, as of today, that I have earned from Fitbit.
To help keep me honest and accountable, a Fitbit Log Page has been added to track my progress.
This can be found here and through the menu at the top of the page.
Time to have some fun …
Hubby and I set out to find some Geocaches/Letterboxes. It had been a while since we logged any finds, so I was anxious to take up this hobby again.
The day was cold and windy but not too bad. We bundled up, grabbed our phones/supplies and went exploring.
Geocache/Letterboxing etiquette states that, taking pictures identifying specific caches is “not cool”. I love to take pictures of every step, but I will be careful to only post those pictures that will not identify specific finds.
I THINK all is working now, and the old content has been moved to this new format.
Now it is time to move forward and work on the projects I have planned for 2014.
Some new fun additions:
Fitbit – come join me by clicking the link to the right
Geocaching – follow our adventures (still adding past caches)
Letterboxing – learn more about it, make your own stamp and join the fun
Much more to come!
Hubby had decided to clean up his eating a bit, but still wants “convenience” when it comes to his meals. Grab and go is the way he eats, most days. Here is one freezer, grab and go meal.
Be sure to check the recipe section for more meals.
